Our story begins with a simple idea from our founder, Chris Browne, a belief that things could and should be better in the world of property management.
After a decade of military service, Chris emerged with a desire to apply the mindset of duty and discipline he’d been living by to something in the property sector. He purchased a rental apartment and became a first-time landlord, and while the learning curve was steep, he was managing – until the day he found himself in hot water.
As a hands-on self-managing landlord, Chris got a late-night call from a tenant one weekend. A leak from the apartment above was flowing through a light fitting and had already damaged some of their personal items. Chris reached out to the management company to no avail. Calls went unanswered and nobody wanted to take responsibility. Chris was hundreds of miles away and every day that passed the tenant grew ever more frustrated, until they could stand it no more and moved out. This is one example of many incidents that convinced Chris as a newcomer to property that there was a critical need for firms in the industry that will place accountability, communication and rapid problem-solving at the core of their business. And the idea that was to become Horizon Management was formed.
Today at Horizon Management, we are committed to looking after residential blocks and developments with all the dedication and discipline Chris was used to in his military career and that he’d hoped for from the block managers at his own personal properties all those years ago as a new landlord.
